Similar to the 2023 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN), SPORTIVE is a sports, music, and creative event that will be held throughout 2023. May is considered a sports month in Indonesia due to many international sports events held during this month. 

As we commonly know, international sports events have been a part of sport tourism which is highly promoted by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf). It is hoped that sport tourism events in Indonesia will create a momentum for the revival of the tourism sector and the creative economy in Indonesia. 

2023 SPORTIVE is one of many ways to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Indonesia through international sports events in Indonesia. These are the international sports events in May 2023:

Bali Spirit Festival

One of the events listed in the SPORTIVE calendar that will be held in May 2023 is the  Bali Spirit Festival. This event was held on May 4-7, 2023, in The Yoga Barn, Padangtegal, Ubud, Bali. This festival is also part of wellness tourism which aims to provide positive impacts on physical and spiritual health, while also protecting the environment. 

The Bali Spirit Festival has three core components: music, art dances, and yoga. The goal is to realise the core mantra of Balinese Hinduism by achieving physical and spiritual health. As for the preservation of nature, the Bali Spirit Festival also carries out waste sorting, bamboo planting, and organic decorations.

Gran Fondo New York Mandalika

Another SPORTIVE event in May 2023, is Gran Fondo New York (GFNY) Mandalika, which will be held on May 28, 2023 at the Mandalika circuit, Lombok. This international sports competition has targeted 1,000 participants from 32 countries around the world.

Gran Fondo New York is a bicycle championship that is open to not only professional bikers but also amateur riders. Participants will start the race at the Mandalika Circuit and cycle a distance of around 135 kilometres. There will be inclines, hills, and turns along with the beautiful scenery along the route.

Bintan Triathlon

The Bintan Triathlon is one of the most anticipated sporting events in Indonesia. This event will be held on May 20-21, 2023 in Bintan. Every year, a thousand participants from around the world participate in this world class event. 

The Bintan Triathlon consists of three branches of sports: swimming, cycling, and running. There are also three categories that we can participate in: Olympic Distance, Sprint Distance, and Youth Distance. Every category is different based on the distance covered in each branch of sport.

L’etape by Tour de France

In the area of Mandalika Circuit, there will be another international sports event, L’etape by the Tour de France. This sport event, which is included in the 2023 SPORTIVE calendar, will be held on May 28, 2023.

L’etape is a cycling event that is proudly presented by Tour de France A.S.O., and Indonesian sports promotor, VDA (Veloism Danendra Aksata). In its second year, L’etape will be open to around 2,000 amateur cyclists who want to participate in the high-security competition.

Bali Trail Running Ultra

The next 2023 SPORTIVE is the Bali Trail Running Ultra which will be held on May 21, 2023. This international sporting event always provides challenging terrain along with the beautiful scenery of Mount Batur. It perfectly suits everyone who likes running and enjoying the scenery.

Bali Trail Running Ultra is divided into four categories differentiated by the distances. It starts at 7K, 15K, 30K, and 55K. Participants can choose the category that best suits them. The event will start from Tova Devasya, the village of Toya, Bungkah, Kintamani.
