”Islamic Creative Economy Funder Fund 2023” in Medan Books an IDR11 Billion Financing Commitment

In an effort to drive economic revival and create employment opportunities

Medan, March 15th 2023 - A total of 25 creative economy business actors managed to book financing of IDR11 billion provided by investors and sharia financing institutions in the boot camp and pitching stage of the “Islamic Creative Economy Funder Fund (ICEFF) 2023” program at the Medan Tourism Polytechnic in North Sumatra on March 12-14, 2023.

Director for Access to Financing of the MOTCE, Anggara Hayun Anujuprana, in the “boot camp and pitching ICEFF 2023” at the Medan Poltekpar, Monday (13/3/2023), explained that ICEFF is one of the MOTCE’s efforts to bring together tourism and creative economy business actors, especially halal industry in the culinary, craft, application, and modest fashion sub-sectors to obtain financing support from financial institutions and investors to develop their businesses.

“Business actors who are ICEFF participants receive mentoring or upscaling programs from the MOTCE. In addition, the MOTCE will also support promoting the business actors’ products who receive financing from the ICEFF program,” Hayun said.

This is because the halal industry is currently one of the hot topics discussed in the international business world.  Based on the Indonesia Halal Market Report 2021/2022, Indonesia is the largest halal consumer market in the world, with consumption of around US$184 billion in halal products in 2020; the export value of halal products reaches 8 billion US dollars; the import value of halal products is around 10 billion US dollars, and investment in the halal economic sector in Indonesia is around 5 billion US dollars.

With such an enormous potential for the halal industry, the government spurs business actors to develop halal products and services to realize the vision of Indonesia becoming the center of halal producers in the world.

Head of the Integrated Banking and Financing Working Group, Mugiyanto, added that in 2023, the MOTCE carried the concept of Integrated Tourism, so there is a process from financing to promotion. It aims to prepare MSMEs fostered by the MOTCE to compete nationally and globally.

“As many as 878 business actors register through the website. But after being curated, 25 creative economy actors deserve to participate in the boot camp and pitch in the ICEFF 2023 program in Medan City,” Mugiyanto said.
